Dr. William Boughton Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals

Dr. William Boughton, Conductor & Music Director excels as a professional musician

    New Haven, CT, July 11, 2009 /Music and Recording PR News/ -- William Boughton, Music Director of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for his dedication, leadership and excellence in musical performance.

William Boughton was appointed Music Director of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) in 2007. His expertise in British Music is recognized worldwide with over 60 recordings, many of which have received awards and entered the Billboard Charts as bestsellers. He has received numerous Awards including the Jyvaskyla (Finland) City Award for outstanding musical achievement. He is also an experienced radio broadcaster with a regular program on WMNR and is sought after as a Public Speaker.

William Boughton received his Doctorate from Coventry University in 1985 and is a Fellow of Yale University. He studied conducting with Rudolf Schwan and Colin Davis and cello with William PIceth. After 25 years as the Music Director/ Founder of the English Symphony Orchestra, he moved to the States in 2007, but returns regularly to Europe to Guest Conduct.

His visionary artistic projects include working with children with autism and impaired hearing. He has also collaborated with many of the world's leading soloists including Radu Lupu, Nigel Kennedy, Angela Hewitt, Evelyn Glennie, Sarah Chang and many more. In 1985 he was the Artistic Director of the Malvern Festival celebrating Sir Michael Tippett's 80 Birthday, which was filmed by the BBC. He has commissioned orchestral works from numerous composers including Peter Sculthorpe, Augusta Read Thomas, Michael Berkeley and Anthony Powers.

He supports numerous charities including Cancer Research, Education in Africa and Music for the Hard of Hearing.
