SALEM, VA, November 1, 2008 /Music and Recording PR News/ -- Peggy Schaaf, Owner and Instructor at Vocal Discoveries Studio, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of music education.
Ms. Schaaf has 33 years of professional experience in music as a voice teacher, vocal coach, piano teacher, soloist, adjudicator and choral director. An expert in vocal technique, she gives voice and piano lessons, and encourages her students to explore a variety of musical styles, always placing emphasis on building relationships with them to help build their strength and confidence in themselves. In addition to her work for the studio, Ms. Schaaf works with adult, youth and children's choirs at three area churches and plays steel drums for a band named Bahama Mamas. She became involved in her profession because of the inspiration she received from her mother, who was a singer. A recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award, she credits her success to her networking skills and ability to build strong relationships with other musicians and professionals.
A certified elementary education teacher, Ms. Schaaf received her Master of Arts in Voice Studies from Marshall University and her Bachelor of Music Education in Vocal and Choral Music from the University of Delaware. She is a member of the Roanoke Valley Music Teachers Association, the Virginia Music Educators Association, the Virginia Choral Directors Association, the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Teachers National Association. Ms. Schaaf gives generously to the Hope Foundation and the American Lung Association. She looks forward to expanding her business further and helping her daughter, a music theatre major, get her start in the industry and build a name for herself.
